Doubling Down

I’ve spoken before about my undying love for black jeans but sometimes a girl has to switch things up, & when the result is this great little double denim look then who can argue? Light-wash denim can be intimidating & the temptation to fall into a pit of retro styling is strong but I chose to pair the jacket & jeans combo with this super cute floral top & pink velvet heels for a more feminine vibe.

This jacket from Daisy Street is sadly sold out in plus sizes (it is still available up to a UK14 here) but thankfully oversized denim jackets are everywhere at the moment & I’ve linked a super similar one above. Denim jackets are perfect for the transition from Summer to Autumn as they’re lightweight but super easy to layer as the weather gets cooler, & once Winter really sets in a denim borg jacket is a great option.

Mom jeans are a new thing for me, & as a plus size girl who carries a lot of weight round my stomach I was a little nervous about how they’d look, but I love the laid-back vibe they give, especially with a cute top tucked in. I normally wear jeans with a lot of stretch so I sized up in these & they still feel a little tight – especially straight out of the wash – but wearable; next time I’d probably size up again for that super slouchy fit.

These shots were taken by superstar photographer Lianne – if you’re Scotland-based & in need of a photographer I can’t recommend her enough.
