When I won the Rising Star award in Navabi’s 2017 Plus Size Blogger Awards, I immediately started planning what I would spend my prize money on & this cobalt blue wool coat from Bethany‘s influencer collection was first on my list.
I have a theory that bright coats are the key to surviving Winter.
Nothing beats the feeling of venturing out into a cold, gloomy morning cocooned in colourful wool. I’ve also found that bold coats are a massive compliment magnet – it feels like so many people stick to neutral outerwear, so people are always pleasantly surprised to see something a bit different.
Like all Navabi’s piece, the quality of this coat is clear – it’s fully lined, super soft, & the fit is perfect. I generally size up in outerwear as I love a really oversized fit, so I’m wearing a UK24 here, & I’d say it’s true to size. The UK22 would have given me a more fitted style, but I love that I can still comfortably layer up with a sweater underneath, ideal for when the weather gets colder.
A coat this bright was begging for a monochrome look, so I paired it with these great little mules from New Look & this beaut clutch from ASOS – you know I can’t resist a tassel detail. I still wanted to coat to be the star though so I went super basic with my top & jeans. These mom jeans from ASOS are a total revelation – I’m still a black skinny jean girl at heart but I love the more relaxed vibe the light-wash, distressed denim gives.
Before I go, I wanted to give a shout out to my photographer Lianne who is a total superstar. I was super nervous about shooting in public & not being in control of the camera but she made me feel totally relaxed & I can’t wait to show you the other outfit we shot. If you’re a Scottish blogger, definitely check her out.
