Before I start today’s blog post, I just want to take a second to thank all of you who voted for me in navabi’s Plus Size Blog Awards over the past month. I feel so honoured to have won the Rising Star award, especially given that I was up against some of my favourite bloggers, & knowing that the judges thought I was a natural choice makes my heart swell.
The judges thought that Sarah of Velveteen Femme was a natural choice for Rising Star Award. It’s often asked if, in order to set yourself apart in a crowded blogging market, you need to have professional street-style photos for your blog, while Sarah proves that as long as your content is great, there’s no reason to deviate from an iPhone. She’s stylish, kind, gracious, ethically-minded and writes on a variety of topics. A great all-rounder, we’re looking forward to seeing more from her.
I can’t wait to keep building my blog, working on fresh content, & pushing myself to make the most of new opportunities that come my way – so here’s to the future of Velveteen Femme.
I’m a monochrome girl at heart but May’s sunny weather had me fucked up. Suddenly my nails were coral & this chartreuse skirt from ASOS was winging its way to me. I haven’t forgotten my roots though, so I paired it with this super cute Hello/Goodbye swimsuit from Forever 21 & an old mesh tshirt from ASOS for an edgy but flirty look.
I love the colour of this skirt & the movement, especially with the super high slit on one side. The only downside is the length – it feels a little too long on my petite body, turning the a-line shape into more of a column which I’m not super into.
Here’s to a Summer of putting ourselves out there, testing new waters, & getting returns on our hustle.
